I got this hoping to use it as a general purpose extractor for soldering/tinkering. The filter media is quite thin and unlikely to do more than 'move' smoke and fumes out of your face. That said, it's probably better for the intended purpose of catching oil and grease droplets... The fan speed seems to be a good balance of sucking up oil droplets and making noise. It has 3 speeds, but is quieter than a range hood fan even on maximum. Judging by the wall wart power supply, I didn't think it was gonna be that powerful, but it surprised me. I rechargeable version would be great.
I was honestly surprised by how well this portable range hood performs. I needed something for indoor cooking that would not require cutting into cabinets or installing a permanent vent system, and this has been a great solution. The suction is strong enough to noticeably reduce smoke and cooking odors. While it will not completely replace a built-in overhead model, it does a really solid job for a countertop unit. I love that you can adjust both the height and the angle of the fan head so you can position it exactly where the smoke is rising. That flexibility makes a big difference depending on what you are cooking. The build quality is excellent. It feels sturdy, has enough weight to stay stable on the counter, and does not feel cheap at all. The footprint is also compact enough that it does not take over your entire workspace. Cleanup is straightforward, featuring a dual filtration setup and a collection tray that do a good job of catching grease before it spreads around the kitchen. It operates fairly quietly too, even on the highest speed setting. For the price, I think it offers fantastic value. If you want a reliable, no-installation option for indoor grilling or pan-frying, this is a practical and well-built choice that actually works as advertised.
I wasn't sure what to think of this at first. I mean, I've seen some out of the ordinary things from GLENCREAG, but this one is even more so. Namely, we're talking a portable exhaust fan. What's the use? Well the suggested use is for a stove, and there I can understand. Some houses may not have the exhaust ductwork, or maybe a kitchen fan isn't strong enough to handle extra-smoky food. Or whatever. This would have value as a supplement at the very least.Placement is key, as you have to be near a power outlet (fortunately the power cord is long enough to offer flexibility there) and in a spot that isn't going to, well, melt it. I like that the height can be adjusted, and the angle of the fan head can be tilted, though I do wish the arm could swing out too, instead of just the height.Three speeds. and while I won't say it's extremely loud, it isn't exactly quiet either. You will know it's running. The dimensions keep it from moving a huge volume of air, but it does do well enough on higher speeds to keep the air clear while you burn the meat.I like that there is a choice of filters, though honestly it's a bit of a hassle to change them out. I keep it on the metal filter and just wash it from time to time.So here we are. I wasn't sure what to think of it, and it certainly is a bit...esoteric. However it works, and it's just enough to offer interesting value and utility. Plus if you're of a mind you could put an ashtray under it and have it absorb the cigar smoke...I like this.
I wasn't sure what to expect from a desktop range hood, but this little unit actually works really well. It's compact and easy to move around, which makes it perfect for indoor grilling, hot pot nights, or any situation where you don't want smoke or cooking smells lingering in the house. The three speed settings are useful and the fan pulls a surprising amount of air for its size. I also like that the angle is adjustable, so you can position it exactly where you need it depending on what you're cooking. The dual filtration system seems to do a good job capturing grease and odors, and the noise level is pretty reasonable even on the higher settings. It's also simple to set up and doesn't take up much counter space. This would be especially handy for small kitchens, apartments, RVs, or anyone who likes tabletop cooking.Overall, this is a clever little appliance that does exactly what it's supposed to do. If you cook indoors with things like grills or hot pots, it makes a noticeable difference in keeping the air clearer.

You can hear it, but it's not obnoxious or distracting during a meal.
